I am again here to share an interesting story, and this one is such that I will remember it forever. Let’s start from scratch.
As I have already said, except for Buddy, I have been kicked out of all the other jobs without any exception. Here goes the next one.
This time, I am going to take names.
So, I left my last job at Buddy in February, and after that, I was actively looking for similar jobs related to content. I saw an opening for a social media content writer (Linkedin), and Ankita Gupta, who’s headline is nearly every founder’s favourite LinkedIn personal branding geek, was hiring for this role.
It seemed promising, so I filled out the application and also DMed her.
Luckily, she responded and said to fill out a Google form. I did it, and on April 8th, 2024, I got a call from her. I was busy somewhere, and I didn’t see her call. Also, my speaker on the phone doesn’t work, so I wasn’t able to hear the ringtone. When I saw a missed call, I called her, and she started interviewing me. She started asking me questions, and I, too, was deceitfully giving her answers. But at a point, my tongue started skipping as I wasn’t able to talk to her in English properly, so I hung up the call, held my head like fuck, and said that I would let this opportunity pass. Luckily, she called me again, and I picked up the phone, holding my nerves. I then provided decent answers to all of her questions. Finally, she told me to complete an assignment by tomorrow at 12 p.m., and she sent it to me via mail.
I too took time, completed the assessment, and reverted her back on April 9, 2024.
We then had an interview on the same date. She grilled me for 43 minutes, and I was good at answering her questions. i was satisfied with the interview I gave. For compensation, she asked my expectations; I said 15K, and she then said that she could do 12K. I was good with it, but again, at last, she said that I will treat you as a fresher and I will pay you 8K as you can only handle 2 accounts. Once you can handle 4 accounts, I will increase it to 12k. As I wasn’t working any where, I was still good with it. At last, it was almost certain that I might get the role. She said that she would interview two more candidates and then get back to me. At night, she messaged me that she would like to go ahead with me and will send the documents to sign.
She sent the documents on April 10, 2024, and I signed and returned them.
I then got a call from her, and she said that I would handle your account login access. I was good with it. She said that she was busy, so I should explore the accounts until then and check what and how we post. She then said to watch a video on how to use linkedIn Sales Navigator, she shared a link to a half-hour video. I replied that I would do it by evening.
Things are about to change from here. She said that you are hired as a full-timer, and she expected that I do it instantly. I then made her understand why I said that I would do it by evening because she said that she would share the credentials with me and I would have to explore the accounts. So, in my mind, I had the thought that I had to explore the accounts and then watch the video, and then she asked me whether I was interested in the role or not. I said that I was.
After that, we didn’t contact. She then didn’t give me the login credentials for the accounts. I messaged her on WhatsApp that I had watched the video, but she didn’t even see the message. She saw the message on April 10, 2024 night , but didn’t respond until today morning, when I messaged her for the second time.
She then called and, with a low voice, said that I hired you for a particular project and that I was being taken off for financial reasons, which I believe was a complete lie. This is just a polite way to say that you are fired.
She had earlier told me to handle a few linked-in accounts, and now she is talking about some random projects. She had some LinkedIn accounts that she wanted me to handle, and I am guessing how can all the LinkedIn accounts people back off in a single day that too after when she had asked me whether I was interested or not?
Also, if that was the case, why didn’t she reply to my message after seeing it?
If something like this really happened, then why didn’t she compensate me for the one day that I worked? Why, Ankita, why?
This is Navneet signing off from today’s blog.
