I was 6-7 months into the industry when I thought of writing an ebook. I thought of using it as a lead magnet. It also becomes significantly easier when people all around you are into that stuff. I am here talking about LinkedIn.

The inspiration

I once watched Ishan Sharma; I don’t know him, but his recommendations are top-notch. He was the one who suggested I watch 100 Million Offers and From Freelancer to Agency, a masterpiece by Chris Do.

You know I was very skeptical because of my upbringing. I had the typical mentality of working harder and getting paid more. The typical 9-5 mentality.

This is what we have been taught all our lives.

Watching the video recommended by Ishan which was Scaling Up: How To Run A Successful Studio & Go From Freelance to Entrepreneur, which showed the other side, changed my perception. I was mind-blown by the video’s value, and I had to agree with all of Chris’s points.

It was so good that I even made notes about it.

After that, I even changed it into an e-book.

Building

I was earlier procrastinating about writing that e-book, so I don’t know why I messaged in our social media group, tagging Athriya and Charu ( my co-workers from Buddy ), that I was going to write an e-book as I was working with Buddy. I was also working with Kuberanix at that time. I started writing and designing the book on Canva, as it was too easy to do with a laptop.

Once I started, it didn’t take more than 5 days for me to complete (writing and editing) the e-book.

Well, at last, I have to agree that it was just a good video that I wrote and gave in the form of an e-book with a tweak.

The e-book was so bad that I never even dared to read it; it seemed cringeworthy.

Yet since I had written the e-book, I learned about Gumroad and launched the book.

At that time, I was also writing on Medium, so I even tried promoting it there, but it came out to be a complete failure.

I did whatever I could buy; it got no traction. At last, since I was so ashamed of the book, I even brought it down Gumroad.

What I learned from this is to have some first-hand experience before sharing someone else’s work with the world.

Yet, I can say that I at least wrote a flop e-book better than people who only thought and didn’t take any chance.

I now know a way by which you can produce a flop e-book.

I will be attaching the PDF of the book.

Thanks for reading.
