When not to buy hosting and domain

I got my first job in Feb 2023 as a SEO content writer. At that time I was already familiar with blogger and I had already started using it on my mobile phone and having a website at that time was too cool. I could show off my writings and it would appear on my website.

All this was introduced by my friend Kunal Thakur and for all this I thank him from the deepest part of my heart. 

After I was paid ₹10,000 as a SEO content writer at Coursenator, I knew what I was going to do with this money. I bought a domain and hosting from Hostinger which was the coolest place to buy all these things.

I was too excited to buy it as I was going to own my first custom domain. After lots of consideration me & Kunal agreed on getting a name arnikus.com and we thought of publishing news articles there. I remember at that time Rahul Gandhi who’s the opposition leader was disqualified as an MP and that was the only news post we covered. 

After that all that dopamine hits came to an end. All excitement landed on the ground and we just left looking after it. Needless to say, it was a complete failure. 

I refunded the hosting and I got some money back from Hostinger which made it more trustworthy in my eyes. The domain which we got from hostinger can’t be refunded and I still own it till date but without the hosting.

At this point of time I was also writing blogs on blogger with a subdomain and I was constantly trying to adsense it but I guess the quality of my articles/blogs were not that high so it got rejected every time.

I thought that my blogs aren’t getting adsensed because I don’t have a custom domain so I again bought a custom domain travelasium.com and I even created all the required pages for it like Contact us, DCMA, Privacy Policy and About Us. I tried a lot to adsense it but I again failed. 

Also, I didn’t have a laptop at that time so all this progress was made by a decent android phone of 13k INR, Poco M3.

Also at that time ChatGPT had just launched so, knowing about it I believed that I am the smartest guy on the planet earth and that I can write blogs purely written by AI and it will get adsensed also. I thought that I found a way that people who spent decades in this also couldn’t find it. Lol

This time also it was a complete failure. I lost a bunch of money and got some experience.

Wasting money by getting domain & hosting two times I learnt that there is no point in getting excited and putting in money in purchasing things like that.

So, for the first time I have changed my approach, this time again I am going to get a domain but before that I am going to write everything which I am going to post on my website and only if I am satisfied with the content written in docs I’ll go ahead. If not then I will be able to save some money. 

I also highly recommend you to write everything in google docs or a free subdomain and get a domain only if you are satisfied with the content else you will end up wasting money like I did.
